Today we tried another approach to the Ma On Shan peak. You will see the magenta route on the map was today’s track compared to the yellow route from two weeks ago. This was a bit of a bessy to get up and down. It seemed to go for miles, up and down, then down and up.
We began sharp at 9:45am from the BBQ site and finished back at about 5:30pm.
All made worth it for finding the tiny drink shop open at the end of the trial. The stream also had another visit from us this time; we did a bit of paddling to cool ourselves “ho soo fook”.
Another lesson was to bring more water than needed, we all felt the heat more than last time as there was no good shade on the top of the peak at noon.
We had a second attempt at the Ma On Shan hike a day after the typhoon. We had no real objective other than getting some air in the ol’ lungs. Our original plan was to have lunch on the peak but as the day was very hot we thought this might be too much so we kept to the main path as we haven’t done this for a while. We will attempt it again soon though. Continue reading →
This site allows you to show what work you are currently working on. How does this fair with the secrecy contracts we are all being asked to sign? I’d love to show some of the stuff I’ve been working on but it would probably cost a job.
Sounds a good idea though and I would love to give it a go – but can’t.
A while ago I started a group on Flickr to collect my own images of over-packed products that I saw. It started out with the Colgate toothpaste pack which insisted on wasting 50% of the pack to air when it was opened. This drove me mad and led me to open up this Flickr group.
I had no idea where it would go but it now has 698 item; most of which was uploaded by someone else. I have to say there’s some nice stuff here, I especially like the way designers seems to upload the whole artwork so we can see all round; when normally we just see the best bits and not how they dealt with the legal info.
What do you do when the system gets in the way of what you need to do; when the way is governing the what?
This is what has happened within my area at the moment and I’m struggling with how to deal with it.
We all have tools; things that help you to do something else. Sometimes we rely too much on tools and forget what they should be helping to do. But when a system of tools (or process) is laid down for everyone to follow, without question, then it kind-of stifles a creative situation.
When will drivers get it?
This morning I was on a mini bus taking my daughter to the school swimming competition and the driver insisted that he had to drive a racing car. Normally you just accept but today the story in the paper was a reckless drugged-up taxi driver trying to park on top of a tree!
And here we are being thrown around every corner the world throws at us.
Please, please, please… slow down! It is not a race.
Marks the end of our cafe de coral breakfasts. After about three years they have decided to axe the set A and B combination. Whilst being no big deal it has now made it more complicated for me to order. Today is also the day our new helper arrives so from today onwards I expect home-made meals.
